I started working in advertising in the mailroom at J Walter Thompson New York in the MAd Man era. Years later the board of my B2B ad agency in Portland Oregon fired me. That was in 1990. I opened the doors to my consulting practice and never looked back.

Z-axis Marketing (consulting firm) paid the bills and put my daughter through college and a PhD. I continued to work with startups and was the marketing consultant that literally took on Digimarc in a dirt floored garage, named the company and became a millionaire when it went public. Then high tech took a nose-dive.

Along the way I took the skills learned as an agency CEO and new business guy and put them to work for all kinds of companies for business development. I’ve become particularly adept at branding and positioning independent professionals.

Early on I discovered that networking was key to every rainmaker’s success and that speaking allowed you to network with more folks more quickly. I began speaking professionally as the Networking Ninja. So far, I’ve been paid to speak on three continents. I wrote How to Build Your Business By Speaking to help clients and others

Today, I guide clients through a Signature Identity System to craft the business development skills it takes to be Memorable, prove Unforgettable, make yourself Indispensable and with the right approach become Legendary. At the heart, it all comes down to Trust.

Clients have come to me from Singapore to Madrid. These days I have ongoing retainer consulting agreements with a handful of elite consultants in the USA, and take on strategic marketing projects for a few select firms. I keynote up to 15 times a year, showing people how to Be Seen, Be Heard, and Be Chosen.
