Professional Bio
Stacie Walton retired from Kaiser Permanente as a clinical pediatrician, where she also served as Diversity Champion and Communication Consultant. She later became Head Strategist for her consulting firm, The Diversity Doctor. Currently, she works at an FQHC in Sacramento, supervising family practice residents and providing JEDI support.
Dr. Walton is recognized for her expertise in cultural competency and health equity. She addresses the impact of implicit bias and privilege in organizations and promotes strategies to reduce hidden biases in both personal and professional contexts. Her recent work examines the link between incivility in healthcare and poor patient outcomes, as well as the role that Restorative Justice practices play in addressing horizontal workplace violence.
Outside of her clinical and educational roles, Dr. Walton facilitates Racial Healing Circles in Sacramento with Coming to the Table, using circle processes rooted in the North American Indigenous Peace Circle tradition. She has completed advanced training in trauma-informed care and restorative community practices at the Peacebuilding Institute at Eastern Mennonite University. She applies these methods to her classes, community initiatives, and workplace, leading circles both online and in person.
After graduating with Honors from Stanford University, majoring in Cultural Anthropology, she attended Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She trained at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and received her Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Walton is also a proud mother of two adult children, a musician, and a mathematician. She enjoys daily walks, reading, and knitting in her free time.
