As a television personality and lifelong storyteller, Steve Boorstein has appeared on The Today Show, The View, Inside Edition and other national programs. His interviews and articles have been featured in national magazines and newspapers, including National Enquirer, Reader’s Digest, Style Magazine, The Chicago Tribune, and The Washington Post, among others.
An entrepreneur in diverse industries, Steve built one of the nation’s premier dry-cleaning businesses in Washington, D.C., serving an elite clientele that included Supreme Court justices, U.S. presidents, entertainers, and diplomats. The stroke and his book—Different Strokes, 18 years out, give him credibility. The intimate and honest storytelling creates the connection. Steve presented for Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Chanel. After his stroke, he spoke as a keynote for Neuroscience—Jefferson Neurosurgical Associates at AtlantiCare Summit, and a medical convention at Caesars Palace. Both events were well accepted. Known nationwide as “The Clothing Doctor,” Steve authored three books that taught consumers how to care for and preserve their wardrobes. As a spokesperson for Tide, Whirlpool and OxiClean, he reached millions of consumers and became a sought-after keynote speaker for conventions in the clothing and dry-cleaning industry.
After retiring, he moved to Boulder, Colorado, to enjoy what the mountains have to offer. Two years later, he was hit while skiing, which dissected his carotid artery, and then he suffered a stroke on the operating table. Different Strokes, was based on his 18 years of ongoing recovery and interviews with 20 other survivors from around the world. Humor is a big part of his personality, which he uses to demystify the stigma associated with stroke. He’s been a natural fit for corporate retreats and conferences, anywhere people can let their hair down, laugh and reflect. Audiences include people who are just curious about Stroke and want to be entertained.
